Welcoming Rosh Hashanah

Rosh Hashanah is coming fast, and every year this season brings me right back to my childhood. I think of apples and honey, round challahs, and crisp fall apple-picking days. These traditions carry such deep meaning and are woven with so many memories.

This year marks our sixth year offering Rosh Hashanah meals to-go, and it’s incredible to see how many families have added Mosaic Catering dishes into their own holiday traditions. Some guests return year after year for their favorites, and we love being part of those cherished celebrations.

For me, holiday cooking always blends tradition with a touch of something new. One of my personal highlights is making my Nana’s gefilte fish. Growing up with homemade gefilte fish was a delicacy, and learning it from her — then watching her pass it to my dad, and now making it myself — has been one of my most treasured legacies. When I worked with the Sarah Chudnow facility in Mequon, I saw firsthand how food like this could stir memory and joy for residents, a connection that always reminded me why I love what I do.

Family traditions, community gatherings, even the silly memories (like the year my kids chose a coconut for our “new fruit” and it turned out past its prime!) — all of these remind me of how special this holiday is. I also fondly remember hosting second-night dinners, opening our table to anyone without family nearby, and feeling how much we are one community, one family, when we gather.

And then there are the Rosh Hashanah cards — every year a new art project with the kids, from stamped trees to apple prints. Those moments of little hands busy with paint and markers are precious, and it’s hard not to miss those bustling years.

As we look ahead, Mosaic Catering is excited to help you create memories around your own holiday table. From round challahs to full Rosh Hashanah menus, our team is here to make it delicious and easy. We’re already seeing more Shabbat orders coming in and can’t wait to celebrate this New Year with you.

✨ Don’t forget: Every table needs a challah! ✨

Place your orders soon, and let us be part of your Rosh Hashanah traditions.
